Montréal, October 18, 2016 – Bâtirente strengthens its management team to sustain its growth
Bâtirente is pleased to announce that Louise Charette and Eric Filion are joining its management team. Louise Charette will act as Chief Investment Officer and Eric Filion as Chief Operating Officer. “These appointments will help Bâtirente sustain its growth and maintain its leadership in retirement service offering to labour unions affiliated to the CSN,” states Bâtirente’s Chief Executive Officer Daniel Simard.
Eric Filion is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and was, up to the recent past, the Vice-president, Product Development, Marketing and Investment Strategy, Group Retirement Savings of a major Québec financial institution. “I am very pleased to be joining Bâtirente, a strong organization that is close to its members,” declared Eric Filion.
An Economist by training, Louise Charette has a broad investment management experience, particularly in the area of pension funds. She has worked in the field of economic research and bond management, in addition to being in charge of the pension funds of a large Canadian multinational corporation. “Being Bâtirente’s first Chief Investment Officer holds great meaning for me. It is a unique opportunity to further Bâtirente’s commitment to provide its members with high-performance investment solutions,” stated Louise Charette.
“I would like to thank Louise for her contribution to the Board of Directors over the past seven years,” emphasized Chairman of the Board Pierre Patry. Louise Charette resigned as Director of the Board and of its Investment Committee upon confirmation of her hiring. “Louise’s experience and strategic thinking will contribute to the progression of Bâtirente,” added Pierre Patry.
“The pension fund industry is evolving and it is going through many upheavals. Adding strength to our management team will enable us to continue to support our growth and our groups’ service offering,” added Daniel Fortin, Chief Development Officer. “At the dawn of our 30th anniversary, the future looks promising,” concludes Daniel Simard.
Established in 1987, Bâtirente is a retirement system created at the initiative of the Confédération des syndicats nationaux (CSN) that allows women and men workers to benefit from retirement plans adapted to their needs. Registered as a financial services firm, Bâtirente offers state-of-the-art group retirement advisory services.
Bâtirente has 600 million dollars in assets under management and boasts 20,000 members belonging to 300 groups. Bâtirente will be celebrating 30 years of existence in 2017.
